Mecklenburg Western Pomerania is a State in the far north of Germany. The State’s Ministry of Justice offers access to a database called “Landesrecht M-V”, providing the public with the State’s legislation and jurisprudence.


The State
  • The German state Mecklenburg Western Pomerania is known for its beautiful, untouched nature characterised by hilly lowlands, forests and lakes. National parks and biosphere reserves preserve its flora and fauna. Everything can thrive here, from eagles to otters and orchids.
  • To the north lies the Baltic Sea with Germany’s biggest island “Rügen”. From the coastal region southwards a lot of lakes, linked through rivers and canals crisscross the land. Among them is Germany's largest lake called “Müritz”.
  • Approximately 1.6 million people live in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania, most of which reside in the city of Rostock. The University of Rostock is one of the oldest Universities in Europe.
  • The State’s most important economic sectors are tourism, health care and agriculture. Next to these, there are other crucial sectors like mechanical engineering, wind energy, IT services and the maritime industry.

The Database
  • The State’s Ministry of Justice together with the company “juris GmbH” created a legal database called “Landesrecht M-V”. The database is free of charge and was created for public use.
  • The available documents are divided into three categories: case law, laws & regulations and administrative regulations.
  • All decisions of the State’s courts since 2010, which are considered worthy of publication, are available on the website. Next to that, all laws and regulations of Mecklenburg Western Pomerania which are in force, including the administrative regulations, can be accessed.
  • The user interface of the database has a nice design. The three categories of documents are shown on the left-hand side of the website. Each in form of a drop-down-menu where subcategories are established. Some documents are enhanced with an interactive table of contents.
  • The search feature offers full-text search, auto completion and shows the number of hits per query.

Available Formats
  • The documents are provided in PDF-format for download and print.
  • The documents are only available in German.
